Actually, Nabi, there is long precedent for such a situation. For years almost everyone who ran for and got elected to the Venice City Council may not have been honest enough to state the fact that "if elected I will follow the party line and never become an independent thinker", that seems to me to have been the tacit and unspoken platform they ran on. Worked for an awfully long time for them. Please do not think I advocate this as I find it as heinous now as I did then. Every one should bring their own thoughts and abilities to council and should do their research before making decisions on important issues, then vote their conscience irrespective of what others may think.
