As I write this, Mayor Martin and Co. are about to start their meeting with the FAA in Orlando.
Our attorney reviewed the letter from the Herald-Trib's attorneys and concluded that the letter is correct, that the Herald-Trib does indeed have a legal right to attend the meeting.
I called city hall to see if the mayor had changed his mind and had decided to let the Herald-Trib in, but nobody can give me an answer. Hopefully, he did change his mind.
Hizzoner's argument that the FAA doesn't want the Herald-Trib in the room (posed in an email yesterday to Zac Anderson of the Herald-Trib) is not going to carry any weight, as the FAA is not bound by Florida's Government in the Sunshine Laws. If Martin attends this meeting and excludes the Herald-Trib, he may have just finally landed himself into the real pot that the Herald-Trib has been trying to cook him in all along.
