Just a thought that came to mind when I read your post....our traffic lights have been virtually the same for eons, perhaps changing times call for some thought about changing the signals? Should there be a second flashing signal on the poles that flash for bicycles to cross in addition to pedestrians, or should they be able to utilize the pedestrian crossing signal as it is. Perhaps there is another solution or alteration that could work better? With the climbing gas prices this issue is only going to get worse.
