Yeah, I guess my comment was kind of opaque. The point is that some fools continue to perpetuate the myth that the whole Sunshine mess was created by the “new” members of Council. They demonize the hated “New Council” when, In fact, the majority of those accused were old-guard Airport Board Members and old guard elected officials -who happily accepted the settlement, the City’s legal assistance, and the reimbursement of their own legal fees. There’s some selected amnesia by these pundits who forget that (1) The former “old” Mayor was implicated , (2) a former “old” Council Member was implicated for destroying public records during a time he was having shaded communications with the alleged Ponzi-scheme owner of the Jet Center, and (3) The “old” Airport Board members (yes our representatives) enjoyed referring to members of the public as “Anti-Airport Nazis” and delighted in the antics of low-flying airplanes buzzing the population centers where their “enemies” resided. And, for those who say, “lets get this whole airport thing over with”- I say, sure. First order of business, lets stop pretending this airport is “the growth engine of Venice” and lets stop all this foolishness that tens of millions of taxpayer dollars should be spent to encourage larger jets in Venice at the expense of tourism, quality of life, recreation, and habitat.
