Coalition News

December 1, 2007: Sue Lang, Ed Martin, and Ernie Zavodnyik: former Council challengers, now Council member, Mayor, and Council member.

August 21, 2007: Sue Lang asked Senator Bill Nelson for assistance with the Venice Airport.  There is strong sentiment in the community that the airport should be classified as a "BII" instead of a "CII," while maintaining the runways at 5,000 feet.  Much of the golf course and 24 homes are in the Runway Protection Zone if the airport is classified as a "CII."  All aircraft that presently come in now would still be able to land here if the airport were classified as "BII."

September 7, 2007: A new directional sign for the airport was installed by the FDOT at the request of the Venice Neighborhoods Coalition President Sue Lang.  (Previously there had been none in the Northbound lane of Bus. 41.)  FDOT will shortly install signs for the beaches on the southern side of the island and for the fishing pier, on Bus. 41.

Venice Neighborhoods Coalition

The Venice Neighborhoods Coalition is dedicated to protecting neighborhood interests and preserving John Nolen's vision that Venice always be a special place where the right of the people to enjoy life transcends special interests.

We meet the second Monday of each month from 2-4 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall.

Our membership is open to Venice and South Venice home owners, residents, and Neighborhood and Condominium Associations. Our mission is to ensure that the voices of Venice area residents are heard regarding the quality of life and growth and development in our city and our neighborhoods.

Preserve the Nolen Vision!
